NALFO
Thus far this week we’ve talked about the NIC, the NPC, as well as the NPHC.  Today, we’ll be talking about NALFO.
NALFO (National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations) is an umbrella council for Latino Greek Letter Organizations. The purpose of NALFO is to “promote and foster positive inter-fraternal relations, communication, and development of all Latino Fraternal organizations through mutual respect, leadership, honesty, professionalism and education.”
In cooperation with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, NALFO member organizations collect pennies annually on college and university campuses across the country as part of their National Philanthropy.  Monies collected go towards research in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other diseases.
Today, NALFO has 21 member organizations throughout the United States. Bi-annual meetings are held.  A spring convention and a fall business meeting. The National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, Inc. (NALFO) was established in 1998 to promote the advancement of Latino/a fraternities and sororities. Today NALFO networks with 21 member Latino/a fraternities and sororities that are bound by a shared commitment to fraternal unity and the values that Latino/a fraternal life entails.

Why you should go Greek: Organized Community Services

April 17th, 2010

However one of the biggest assets of joining a frat or sorority is the opportunity to give back to your community. The chance to take part in large community services.
A perfect example was just a few ago. When hundreds of students, in large part greek stood for twenty six hours to raise over half a million dollars for the Childrens Miracle Network at the University of Florida.
